The new rookie salary scale that came about after the 2011 lockout makes the 2nd contract after year 4 the big payday. Another big reason he had to leave early was to speed up his clock to get to year 4 and the chance at that 2nd contract. Ben Tate got 2 years $6 million from the Browns ($2.5 million guaranteed).
