Watching them getting stomped on by Alabama. Its 35-0 as they just pulled their starting QB in the second Quarter.

    Samford 31, Ga. St. 21

    Chattanooga 42, Ga. St. 14

Jacksonville St. 32, Ga. St. 26

All of them were more fun. Lots of decent teams can lose 45-3 to Bama.

GSU put up a good fight against Troy. Even came close to winning it.

    Troy 35
    GSU 28

After the disastrous UT-Chattanooga game, I thought this move might have been a terrible mistake. If an FCS team can take your offense and defense apart what chance do they have in the FBS Sun Belt? But they did well in their first Sun Belt game. They might go 0-12 but if they can be in all their remaining games, things will look promising for the long run.

GSU has had a rough time. I hope we see each other at the FBS level.

Excluding sub-FCS level teams? I can only remember URI from last season.

They beat Pioneer League Campbell and Morehead State, Savannah State, and startup Lamar in 2010, Campbell again plus second-year South Alabama (after losing to them in 2010) in 2011, and URI in 2012. Otherwise just a few D-III/NAIA types.

    Now 0-9

They wouldn't have had a better record in the CAA so at least they can find comfort because they're in a FBS conference. Panther fans hate Eagles fans but at least they'll have a natural rival so that will increase interest.

Still, losing and disinterested students/alumns is a recipe for failure. Sad, really.

0-11 with a fair chance at winning their final game. State's offense scored enough points to win it but their defense faded after the first half.

And that's a wrap...humiliated by So Bama to finish their season 0-12.

No, Sun Belt, there are no refunds.

Strange stat of the weekend is that the Sun Belt is the only conference where every team was bowl eligible (not counting Ga. State since they're in transition). Since there aren't enough bowl games to go around though, only two of the seven teams will be playing postseason ball. I stumbled on this as I was looking at the bowl schedule and figured this is the only place where I might find someone who cares about this. Okay cares might be a stretch, but people that at least won't stare blankly.

Uh-oh. Panthers got their act together and beat Georgia Southern.
    Real GSU 37
    Fake GSU 7
Handing Ga Southern their worst defeat...AT HOME.

And there's talk of a Bowl game for Georgia State. Not as much fun to kick-em now?

Georgia State is playing San Jose State in the AutoNation Cure Bowl on December 19 at 7:00 P.M. on CBS Sports Network. There are so many bowls than San Jose made a bowl with a 5-7 record. Georgia State was 6-6. There were room for 80 teams in bowls and only 76 teams in the Bowl Subdivision had at least 6 wins.

Like an old friend of mine who said when things fall to his favor by chance...

    I'll take it.
