If Masiello takes the SFU job he'd get a chance to coach Shemye McLendon - former HU backup guard.

Speaking of coaching - how about from HU Staff members still (Assistant) Coaching in the NCAA Tourny:
    Allen Griffin (Dayton)
    Patrick Sellers (Creighton)

and we all know that former HU players that also participated in the NCAA Tourny:
    Williams (UMass)
    Kanacevic (St Joe's)

Looks like Masiello is a goner ... at $6.2 mil for five years:

Wonder if Manhattan will consider David Duke or Jared Grasso? Both are ready to move up the coaching ladder. With their Hofstra ties they also might be candidates to replace Dominick Savino at Adelphi, where Danny McCabe is AD.

Does Manhattan want him back? If not, he'll land on his feet in due time. He still has a solid body of work.

    wow, wild

but quite frankly, who friggin cares if he graduated or not - this isn't the science fair, it's coaching, and he's PROVEN he can do that quite well

don't agree with lying, but my goodness, some things really get blown out of proportion - do they need him to tutor? to solve an equation? to write a thesis? OR to coach a winning program

First off if he doesnt go back to Manhattan expect Grasso be the front runner for the Manhattan job. I see Duke getting the Adelphi job. Grasso front runner because he is coming from a winning program while Duke is hurt by Fordhams record for the past 4 years.

Lying/credibility is the issue...now it reflects upon Manhattan as well...Tough call!

HUSID80 that is true but we live in a forgiving society. Second chances are bountiful. Manhattan just might take him back since he had success this season. There may be an agreement that he works toward his degree.

If Manhattan does decide to keep him, how are current athletes and recruits supposed to take him seriously when he talks to them about the importance of getting a degree?

Right Polito. here is a question for the board. Do you think it is absolutely necessary for a coach to have a degree if he is coaching mens basketball in college?

I do since it sets good example for the players. Bigger issue with Manhattan is the lying aspect.

I guess part of the blame is on Manhattan since they didnt do their due diligence. Also how did he slip through the cracks at the other colleges including Louisville.

In other news, Adelphi's mbb coach retired the other day. I wonder Cassara has any interest in that job. Obviously going division 2 would be a step down for him, but that may be his best option if he ever wants a shot at d1 again.

He would only want a D1 HC job and I doubt that would happen in near future

How fast can he buy a few credits...he's probably huddling with Calipari at this moment. My guess is they're hanging him out to dry for a bit, he'll agree to get degree and they'll take him back...undoubtedly humbled

Funny how Manhattan goes back and forth between slicksters who win and upstanding guys who don't.

On another MAAC topic, can someone tell me who's in the CBI championship series? ;-)

Fresno State and Siena. Siena won Game 1 at Fresno State and needs to win 1 more game. Hofstra has played a team in the CBI championship series and SMU who is in the NIT Final tomorrow.

Wonder if Masiello will seek refuge at Louisville now that UNCW has hired Louisville assistant Kevin Keatts? Or maybe Keatts will tap Masiello as an assistant.

The longer Manhattan is quiet, the less chance Masiello has of keeping his job. Those other schools will not take him, he is damaged goods right now.

I might actually disagree. i think the longer this is quiet the more chance he has of keeping his manhattan job. makes me think they are trying to let the storm die down.
