Former Northeastern football DE Jason Vega was added to the Dallas Cowboys' active roster on Friday, October 18th. Vega, who was signed to the Dallas practice squad on Aug. 21, was called up to add depth to the Cowboys defensive line. He made his debut Sunday and recorded one tackle vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. He is the second NU player to play in the NFL after NU dropped football following the 2009 season (RB John Griffin of the NY Jets was the other in 2012). Vega, who stands at 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds, he registered 137 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and five fumble recoveries in 41 career games for the Huskies.
Hey, that's cool. But I have to ask, what's he been doing for the past 3 or so years? Did he transfer and play out his college career elsewhere?
Sorry, I should have included that he was playing in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He signed with the Patriots this summer but got cut after the first preseason game before signing with Dallas.
