This is what he posted at csnbbs Sun Belt board with another post indicating an announcement by Tue. one way or the other... fanofallthatisjmu decision is imminent. sounds like it is leaning accepting the invitation to my surpirse Yesterday 04:52 PM
Yup I did post that. I don't know either way and more info has come to light since that post. I think if we do not accept by Tuesday, that means even better things are on the horizon 8) also, this post is because people do not want to be patient. Great things are a coming I believe either way
Go ahead and tweet that we're accepting an SEC invite. That'll placate the "nothing is ever good enough" crowd.
I admit I had little interest in the Sun Belt before. But since Appy and Ga Southern have found a home there, I think it makes sense for us to be there, too. Their inclusion will mean some really good rivalries, especially with Appy, which is already a big rival. CUSA was my first choice before, especially since we already had a ready-made rivalry already in place with ODU, and it is a higher profile conference. But I really think the three of us could significantly increase the profile of the Sun Belt.
i'm with you. App State and Ga Southern would give us 2 outstanding "get up for" games and it's a league we'd immediately be competitive in. schedule ODU for a home-away series (ala uva/vt) and you have a beginnings of a nice schedule year in year out.
I'm completely ok with a Sun Belt football only bid and staying in CAA for other sports. I'm not even convinced that is a worse deal than CUSA for all sports. Sun Belt football is probably equal to CUSA football and I don't like CUSA for hoops at all. I hope we announce a move to the SB and get this thing going.
You've mentioned this numerous times. I haven't seen it posted in any article anywhere though. Is that even a legitimate option on the table? Even the bloggers (yes those clowns I make fun of all the time) aren't even talking about football only for JMU.
basically some jmu fans are holding out hope because of internet rumors on message boards that say nmsu wants an all sports membership and it would "replace" another school with their current football-only if they expect to keep things even. You are right though, there has been no tweet, nor an article about jmu as a potential football only that i've seen. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if our admin would PREFER to have a football only. Who wouldn't?
I'm with you, 25. I think if we go SB, it will be for all sports. I've read a few articles by DNR writers indicating that JMU does not want to have FB in one conference and olympic sports in another. I don't put a lot of credence in what they write, but I'd be surprised if we go FB only. I'd be pleased either way.
If JMU declines the Sun Belt on Tuesday, i'd make the assumption JMU will be headed to The MAC or CUSA in short order and already have a basic agreement in place. You're going FBS, its only a question of where and when.
That is a date thrown out by a poster or two. Basically they are saying that JMU will go FBS that day or wait because of a much better deal. Also another poster in another thread stated that it isn't a matter if JMU is going FBS but when and where. To me based off of those comments, it sounds like the decision to go FBS was made and now JMU is looking for a home. But maybe I am reading too much into those comments.
As we wait for the big news.....what is funny, I was thinking of JMU in all of this, haha....
to calm the fears of the jmu nation: i spoke to one of the big three a few days ago. sunbelt is a bad match academically and geographically. all i will say is jmu is after something better.
