This from NU's alumni association newsletter

During the most recent renovation of Friedman Diamond and Parsons Field, significant upgrades were made to our playing surface, bullpens and outfield fences. The last piece to make our facility one of the premier baseball facilities in New England is permanent seating behind home plate. We are in the planning stages of designing a pavilion that will seat more than 400 fans and will include a viewing suite, press box and concession stand.

Don't know how soon this will be done.

    Looks nice, congrats.

Do you think NU will ever consider a new basketball arena?

    SB,

It's very difficult for us to do because of the limited space on campus. That's really the only reason we don't have a new arena and a football program anymore.

NU's about to put forth another campus master plan project for new buildings and apartments on campus and one does include a new athletic operations building across the street from Matthews Arena. It will house the athletic offices and a practice facility for hoops if I'm not mistaken.
