Buzz is bringing two of his Marquette recruits with him to Tech. They were released from their Commitments.

    Verbal commits (among others) tweeted:

"2015 Providence (FL) PF/C Wyatt Walker has received an offer from William & Mary."

Big body (6'9 240lbs), good passer with good hands and instincts. Not a great athlete, but could operate in both high & low post and bring the wide body the team is missing.

Williams had a breakout performance in the first EYBL session of the summer. Memphis has now offered and UNC showing interest....so much for that.

Wyatt Walker appears to be Shaver's kind of big man. Does anyone else see shades of Rusthoven's game in Wyatt's video?

A little. The thing that stood out to me is the 240lbs Walker weighs now as a hs Jr. Rusty didn't weigh that until his jr/Sr year of college. Having a big anchor in the post to rebound, pass, & defend would be a real boon to this team. As beneficial as rusthoven was on the offensive end, he often struggled defending bigs and keeping them off the offensive glass. Walker seems capable on offense, though it doesn't look like he needs to score to benefit his team. With the number of scoring guards we keep bringing in, bigs that don't require touches are even more important.

Walker also seems to have a face up jumper which Rusty never had and Sheldon doesn't have at the moment. The highlights show him hitting some 3's. His vertical isn't overwhelming, but it's more of a Sam Perkins level of elevation on his jumper, but the result seemed nice, but again these were highlights. Based on his willingness to attack the basket, face up jumper and soft passing touch, I do think he'd be a nice fit in our offense and if you mold some of that 240lbs into more muscle, he could be a real nice player for us and compliment our stable of backcourt and wing players.

One final thing regarding the highlights, those are clips from last summer- before his Jr. Year. A lot of development game wise & physically speaking occurs going from a 15-16 year old rising Jr to a 17-18 year old Sr. My take from the video is that though he isn't much of a leaper, he is surprisingly athletic and comfortable within his frame. Excellent hands and feet, hustles, & runs the floor. He doesn't look overweight, so he carries that weight well (which isn't easy for a high school kid).

Looks like we have a run on forwards...

    Alex Kline tweeted:

"William & Mary offered 2015 DC Premier (DC) forward Charlie Thomas this morning, his coach announced."

My thoughts on Thomas... College ready body. Athletic with a nice mid-range touch. Good pedigree (father played at Wake forest). Nice kid with high academics. High potential because of length & athleticism. Most think his best basketball is ahead. Seems to be recruited hardest by the local schools GW, UMBC, & Towson.

Would love to snag some of these guys early on like we have with other prospects before they have breakout seasons.

The three offers that are known would seem to be a nice add to the current team and 2014 recruits.

Do we really have 3 scholarships available for 2015, or is it just 2???

I figure we will have 13 players on scholarship next year and we will graduate 2, Thornton and Schalk.

"Guerin Catholic forward Matt Holba (2015) has added an offer from William & Mary."

    Highlights
    Dunks
Not a lot of shooting highlights, but the kid is an elite athlete. Pretty impressive around the rim.

Give credit to the coaching staff for targeting their recruiting efforts at another level from anything we've seen in the past. Holba is on the Indiana Junior All-Star team, and starts on an AAU team that went undefeated in the first weekend of NIKE EYBL play. His frontcourt mates are the #13 and #42 rated players in the country.

Based on what is being said at the Purdue Rivals site, Holba would be a legit "great" commit for the Tribe.

When I see both Holba and Cline being talked about by Purdue fans, I just shake my head that the Tribe is attempting to land both...would be awesome! Go get 'em, Coach Shaver!

This is Indiana. It's pretty much all Coach Holmes at this point.

OK, OK, what is the difference between an "unofficial visit" and an "official visit"????

We're not paying for the visit and it doesn't count against his 5 official D1 visit limit.

Holba played this weekend in Hampton in the 3rd leg of the Nike EYBL schedule, so, an easy stayover for the extra day while he's here. Per the recruiting rules schedule for the "quiet period", the staff could not watch him play at Hampton, but can have in person contact during the unofficial visit on campus.
