Just when I thought Drexel hit rock bottom, Bruiser & Zilmer signup for the Alaskan Shootout... and totally redeem themselves.

Alaska - Anchorage, Toledo, and San Jose State should help with recruiting.

MTSU, Asheville, Toledo and probably Loyola Ill will all be better than us and its not that close. We should be better than Achorage and San Jose State for sure. Unfortunately as stated, not a very strong field, even though Asheville and Toledo normally put decent squads together.

If we somehow win it all or do decently well in it even if the competition isn't that strong it will go a long way in building morale on a young team who lost its best player.

I hear the University of Sciences was invited but they turned it down because they wanted more of a challenge.

If memory serves, that's an ESPN tournament, just like Charleston was (and the PNIT is a defacto one as well). With the CAA making the terrible choice to turn its back on ESPN, these tournaments are a legitimate chance to get on TV - even if it's at midnight - and clearly Bru is using his ESPN connects to ensure DU's annual involvement. All good stuff. My only problem with this tourney is that I doubt I'll go, and Alaska is very much on my bucket list.

Drexel actually played in this tournament in the Eddie Burke days and lost to Anchorage. Anchorage would be a D1 program if anyone would take them, but geography keeps them away. Definitely a no-win situation playing them, but we already know what it is like losing to a D2 in our backyard.

Updated to add date for SJU game. Season opener at Hagan 11/13, because what could possibly go wrong for this team opening on Friday the 13th?

Not a bad ooc so far, I like the local teams i.e Penn State, St Joes, Upenn, Lasalle and the honorary "tough team" i.e University of South Carolina and the The Alaskian tourny could be fun. Is there only one team left to fill our schedule?
