Theus drops in layup with 1 second left, pushing VCU to 76-75 win over Akron in OT – The Washington Post
AKRON, Ohio — Darius Theus’ layup with 1 second left in overtime lifted Virginia Commonwealth to a 76-75 win over Akron on Thursday night for the Rams’ seventh-straight win.
Coming out of a timeout, Zeke Marshall got to the foul line and sank two, putting Akron up 75-74 with 19 seconds left in overtime. After a timeout of their own, the Rams (10-3) got the ball to Theus for his final-second winner
In a game VCU trailed for most of, the Rams pulled even at 70-all on two Treveon Graham foul shots with 32 seconds left in regulation. The Zips (7-6) had a chance to win it, but Nikola Cvetinovic couldn’t get his attempt to fall.
