ODU’s Heinicke earns national acclaim
By TheFeed Published: 29th November 2011Old Dominion freshman quarterback Taylor Heinicke was chosen as The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS National Freshman of the Week on Monday after leading the Monarchs to the second round of the FCS playoffs with a 38-15 win over Norfolk State on Saturday. ODU (10-2) plays at Georgia Southern (9-2) on Saturday in the second round.

The Rams remain first in this week’s CAA Bloggers Poll after opening conference play in dominating fashion against UNCW. The Seahawks on the other hand were one of only two teams to fall in this week’s poll, seeing Hofstra jump Buzz Peterson’s squad for the ninth spot, and Drexel passing Old Dominion for the five slot. 1.
