How important is hanging onto the ball in the CAA? Results from recent seasons say that teams expecting to finish near the top of the CAA must be at least mediocre in keeping the turnovers to a minimum. Also, all league teams seem to improve in this area as the season progresses.

NBA statistical analyst Dean Oliver considers turnover percentage as one of the four factors that most affect winning, the others being: effective field goal percentage, offensive rebounding percentage and free throws made per field goal attempted.

The national Division I average for turnover percentage varied between 20.4 percent and 21.2 percent over the last four seasons. In that span, more than two-thirds of CAA teams bettered the national average.
